Data Protection: GDPR

  • The introduction of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) on the 25th May 2018 represented a watershed moment for data protection law throughout Europe, and will be unaffected by Brexit.
  • You’ll already be familiar with the headlines: €20 fines, personal liability, the biggest shake-up of data protection laws pervading all aspects of business and trade in the UK and throughout Europe.
  • Separating out the facts from hyperbolic media spin can be tricky. Our team have spent the last year carefully unpicking the fabric of the GDPR in order to offer a practical and commercial solution.
  • Running through the core of the GDPR is the requirement for all businesses, regardless of their size and sector, to establish a compliance framework. Regulation 24(1) requires organisations to:“implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to ensure and to be able to demonstrate that processing is performed in accordance with this Regulations.”
  • This is the key to understanding the new regulations. For more information, contact our experts.
